The Eighth Principle of Discipleship

Choose to be a Cheerful, Generous Giver to the Lord’s Work

Introduction: Thisis definitely a factor that has either been neglected or used as a club to beat
Christians with. In addition, there has been some teachings that I have heard
that are distortions or half-truths of what the Bible clearly teaches us. Our
desire here is to teach clearly what the Bible teaches because this factor is
one of factors that release and maintain the abundant life Christ offers to us!
It has not been seen as that from all I have been taught and have heard through
the years. So, it is exciting for me to share how this factor will add even
more depth to our experience of the abundant life available to us.

1. God desires a heart of giving that ischeerful and generous

Galatians6: 6-10; 2 Corinthians 9:7

2. Giving in this way releases the abundantlife in us

· Genesis 14:16 – 15:6

· Malachi 3:8-12

· Luke 6:38

· Acts 20:35

· 2 Corinthians 8:1-2

· Galatians 6:6-10

3. What we give is how things will be givenback to us Luke 6:38. Consider the 3 laws of the harvest Galatians 6:6-10

· As long as we are living we are sowing

· Whatever you sow that you will also reap

· We always reap later than we sow

4. We need to tithe as a beginning of giving

· Tithing was a principle known of andpracticed in the time of Abraham and Jacob long before the Law of Moses was
given. Genesis 14:16-20; 28:22

· Jesus teaches that we should tithe, eventhough so many have stated that Jesus never spoke to this matter! Matthew 23:23

· The principle that Grace always calls formore than the law. This is possible because the Holy Spirit helps us. Matthew
5:21-22, 27-28

· We just cannot ignore Malachi 3:8-12,because of the above points, the truth there still remains in force.

· So, tithing should be the beginning and itshould be full of cheerfulness and generosity.
